Scholarships
Scholarship Applications will be accepted beginning in January 2023
Please Note: No scholarship committee member or family member of a scholarship committee member may be awarded a scholarship. No officer, manager or above, or director/trustee of Essentia or any of their family members may be awarded a scholarship.
St. Mary's Medical Center Auxiliary Scholarships
- Lake Superior College (LSC) - Scholarships of $1500 each will be awarded and one payment made to LSC August/September 2023. The scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a diploma or an associate degree in the Health Science programs at Lake Superior College.
- College of St. Scholastica (CSS) - Scholarships of $2,500 each will be awarded and one payment made to CSS August/September 2023. The scholarships will be awarded to students pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in the Health Science programs at the College of St. Scholastica.
- UMD Medical School (UMD) - Scholarships of $4000 each will be awarded and one payment made to UMD August/September 2023. The scholarships will be awarded to students in their second year of study at the University of Minnesota Medical School Duluth.
General Criteria:
Applicants must have been accepted into and taking classes within their major program profession in order to apply for a scholarship.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence, high character, and demonstrated leadership. Applicants are also reviewed with an emphasis on past and current volunteer activities. Consideration is also given to demonstrated financial need, academic record and commitment to caring for the sick and injured.
- College students - scholarships will be in the amount of $500.00 to $1000.00 based on the number of qualified applicants. College students in their SECOND year OR HIGHER of college or technical college pursuing a degree in a healthcare related field are eligible to apply.

The deadline for applying online is March 1st 2023. Applications received without the required attachments will be deemed as incomplete and will not be considered. Once recipients have been chosen, all scholarship applicants will be notified via e-mail whether they will be awarded a scholarship or not.
